Baked French Toast Casserole
Here's a delicious baked french toast casserole that would be a wonderful treat for your family. Ingredients: - 12 slices day old bread, crust removed
- 2 8 oz packages cream cheese
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- Dozen Eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup syrup
Cut bread into 1 inch cubes; place half in greased 9 X 13 inch dish. Cut cream cheese into 1 inch cubes; place over bread. In large bowl, beat eggs: add milk and syrup and mix well. Pour over bread mixture. Cover and chill 8 hours or overnight. Remove from fridge 30 minutes before baking. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 25-30 minutes more, until center is set. Sauce - 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 tablespoon butter
In a saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; add water. Bring to a boil for 3 minutes. Stir in blueberries; reduce heat. Simmer 8-10 minutes or until blueberries burst. Stir in butter. Pour over French toast to serve. This sauce can also be used for your pancakes.
